Can you find your way through the maize in 15 seconds or less?
Sometimes Life Is Like A Maze!
While we make choices, sometimes not always the best one, God is always leading down the road He desires for us.
After 10 to 12 years of piano lessons, I figured out that keeping a beat was not a talent God decided to give me. See for most of those years I had one piano teacher, and she did everything possible to help me learn how to keep a beat. So on any given Friday morning during my piano lesson before I went to school, she was counting out loud, or marching around the room, or pulling out her metronome to help me keep proper time. Now I hate metronomes - I am sure they are from the devil!
Sadly, it was all in vain. It was the Vanities of Vanities if I may steal a line from the Bible.
Finding My Talent!
Back in the day, I couldn’t figure out my piano lesson to make my teacher happy. Yet, there was beat inside of me that wouldn’t go away. While my brothers and other kids on the block were watching television, I was listening to the radio, enjoying the beat.
It was in high school that I had the chance to take a music recording class. The light went on. I loved this class. It put images of a music recording career in my head.
Well, almost! While I planned; God led. So I was about ready to take an unexpected turn in my maze of life!
I am not sure if somewhere along the line my parents figured out their kid couldn't keep a beat, or if they just dreaded having their kid recording rock and roll. So while I wanted a career in music recording, my parents pushed me towards radio. I ended up at a Christian college, and I majored in radio production.
After college I found a job in Christian radio. As time went on, I discovered God gave me a gift for preaching. It took a while for this to come about because I was about the quietest and shy guy you would ever meet.
Talking to one person was bad enough, talking to a group of people that took some work.
Then the computer, the internet and social media came along, so I am thinking God had my maze of life all figured out long before!
